SMW Global Media Strengthens Position in European Women’s Cricket with Back-to-Back International Events in Germany
SMW Global Media strengthened its presence in German cricket and European women’s cricket through its involvement in two international women’s cricket events in 2026 — the Switzerland Women’s Tour of Germany and the Nordic Women’s T20I Cup.
The Switzerland Women’s Tour of Germany 2026 took place from 10 to 12 July, with Germany Women hosting Switzerland Women for a five-match T20I series at the SSC Cricket Stadium in Karlsruhe. Germany produced a strong series performance, securing four victories, while Switzerland also recorded a win during the five-match contest. The series provided valuable international playing opportunities while adding to the growing calendar of women’s cricket in Germany.
The international action continued with the Nordic Women’s T20I Cup 2026, held from 28 to 30 August at GelsenTrabPark in Gelsenkirchen. The three-team competition featured Germany Women, Sweden Women and Denmark Women, with six T20I fixtures scheduled across three days. Sweden Women finished as champions after an unbeaten campaign, while Germany also recorded a victory during the tournament.
Across both events, SMW Global Media was involved through Commercial Rights, Media Rights & Production, supporting the professional commercial and media framework surrounding the international fixtures. The company’s involvement across consecutive women’s international competitions demonstrated its growing role within Germany’s cricket ecosystem and its ability to support international cricket properties across different formats and participating nations.
Both events also utilised SMW Remote, SMW Global Media’s remote sports production platform, for live sports production. The technology enabled broadcast-grade production workflows while supporting efficient live coverage and content delivery from the respective venues.
The two events reached audiences through a broad network of digital and cricket-focused platforms, including Begin, Action Sports, AKASH TV, Data/Cricket Lounge, DCB YouTube and SportVot, with the Nordic Women’s T20I Cup also distributed through FanCode and ICC.tv. This multi-platform approach helped increase the visibility of women’s international cricket and connect audiences across Germany, Switzerland, the Nordic region and wider international markets.
With back-to-back international women’s cricket events, SMW Global Media continued to build its footprint across German cricket, European cricket and international sports broadcasting. Its combined expertise in Commercial Rights, Media Rights & Production, supported by SMW Remote, positioned the company at the centre of a growing international cricket landscape in Germany and Europe.
